He was born 14 July, 1917, the fourth son of Johannes Stephanus Mul and Gijsberta van Reeden, in Gouda, The Netherlands and named after his father and his aunt. So he is: Johannes Maria. Something which embarrassed him the rest of his life. A sister was born a little less than two years later.
